If I had to describe myself it would be “a product of fiction.” As a kid I was raised on a steady diet of television, video games, comic books, and young adult novels. Being around all that, it’s no surprised that I developed such a fascination with fiction. I’ve always found myself drawn and interested in things that were made up and whenever there was something that caught my eye I always wanted to learn more about it. When I went to toy stores I spent so much of my time looking at the back of the boxes and backing cards to read the made up backstory and stats of the toy inside or in the videogame section thumbing through strategy guides, reading character biographies or the descriptions on weapons and items. As I got older my fascination with fiction grew and so did my methods for looking them up. When I got internet access I spent hours surfing fan sites, blogs, and wikis reading up on whatever franchise held my attention at the time.

It’s probably this fascination with fiction that I had growing up that led me to going to college and getting my Bachelor’s Degree in English with the hopes of becoming a writer. College was an interesting experience for me, I’ll admit I wouldn’t call it the most pleasant experience, but it was informative and looking back it was something I’m glad I did because I learned a lot of things that helped to improve my abilities as a writer and storyteller—things I never would have been able to figure out on my own.

During college I got a job working for Motor Trend Group which at the time was known as Primedia and was actually in the process of changing the company name to Source Interlink Media (that company had a lot of names and I was there for quite a while so I was around for a few more name changes). For those who aren’t familiar with Motor Trend Group or any of their past incarnations, they were one of the largest publishers of automotive-related media in the world and when I was working there they also owned and published quite a number and variety of non-automotive related publications.

Despite having a background in English I didn’t do that much work at Motor Trend Group as an editor, instead, I mostly worked on the web side posting content and maintaining the websites. It was a far-cry of what somebody with my skillset and background was suited for, but it was another learning experience for me because in that position I was able to learn a lot about photography, content generation, search engine optimization, and operating a website.

One day I decided to take everything I learned both in my professional and personal lives and I created this website. If I had to tell people why I created this website, it would probably be best broken down into 5 basic reasons:

  1. I wanted a creative outlet which I could express myself as well as practice and showcase my abilities as a content-creator and story-teller.
  2. Aside from showcasing and practicing my content-creation skills, I also wanted a platform I could use to hone the skills I picked up learning how to operate and manage a website, as well as have a place where I can tryout a few web design ideas and tricks.
  3. I was hoping that I could use this website as a self-promotion tool that would help me create professional relationships and contacts with people in various industries.
  4. I was also hoping I could use this website to generate some side cash for myself either through people who would be impressed enough with my work that they would be willing to hire me for something or offer me some sort of sponsorship or collaboration deal, or at the very least get some revenue through ad-impressions.
  5. And the final reason I started this site was because I was just curious if I had what it takes to create a successful website that could attract and hold peoples’ attention.

When I first started building this site I wanted to have its foundation built around my fascination with fiction so my original plan was to make it a nerd-centric/pop culture type of blog, However, it didn’t take long for me to realize that in order to survive in today’s culture, as well as in order to show my flexibility I would need to expand my subject matter, this is why on my site you’ll find me going over a variety of topics. On my site you’ll find pictures and writeups on toys, mode, and collectibles I’ve acquired over the years (in case you haven’t realized I’m really into Transformers and Legos); event coverage from conventions, art expeditions, trade shows, festivals, and other events that have caught my eye; essays, analyses, and look backs at movies and TV shows; as well as write ups and pictures on anything else that’s caught my my attention either in real life, on the Internet or just on TV.

Also, if you haven’t noticed already, I do have YouTube channel. It’s mostly just videos I made by strapping a GoPro on my dog and taking him to car meet and shows, but there are a few other things in there that I hope you’ll be interesting in watching.

Thanks for checking out my site and thanks for taking the time to read page. If you haven’t already, I hope you’ll explore the rest of my site and my YouTube channel and I also hope you’ll come back later to see what else I put up here.
