One thing I noticed at San Diego Comic Con was that a lot of companies had their booths/exhibits/activations in the same place as previous years. I’m sure this isn’t a coincidence, if anything it’s probably a courtesy the organizers extend to the vendors and exhibitors, and it also makes it easier for the attendees to find their favorite companies. I only bring this up because I do remember seeing this exhibition back at SDCC 2019, but I was so focused on getting pictures of cool stuff that I neglected to see who the exhibiting company was. Imagine my surprise in 2022 when I decided to pay more attention and found out that it was owned by Upper Deck.

I know Upper Deck is a trading card company and I always thought that they dealt primarily with sports. In fact, as a kid I remembered when toy companies would package mini catalogs with their toys that would showcase other toys that they sold, both from that particular line as well as other toylines that they dealt with, Kenner had a line of sports action figures with Upper Deck’s name attached to them.

Honestly, I shouldn’t be that surprised that Upper Deck makes prints and also makes prints of things that aren’t sports, they say specialization leads to extinction, and a lot of companies do diverse themselves when they need to.

Anyway, Upper Deck’s Gallery was full of a lot of cool prints which is why I’m giving them they’re own dedicated post. One memory that really sticks out to me is that while I was checking this booth out, I saw a guy just fall in love with 1 particular print and was desperately trying to find an employee to see if he could buy a copy of it. While he was wandering passed me I joked with him that maybe he should just grab the one off of the wall.

Unfortunately, like the majority of my art posts there’s not that much I can tell you about the pieces other than the titles, but hey if you’re interested in buying any of them they’ll be way easier for you to find on Upper Deck’s online store.

Enjoy.
